Biography

Rana Mashhood Ahmad Khan hails from a respectable family with political and legal awareness. His late father, Rana Abdul Rahim, was a renowned lawyer and was awarded the Pakistan Movement Gold Medal for his national services. After becoming a lawyer, Rana Mashhood Ahmad Khan also developed an interest in politics and assumed the position of President of the Muslim League-N Lawyers Forum Punjab in 2000. In 2001, he was elected as the youngest General Secretary of the Lahore High Court Bar Association. In 2002, he was elected as a Member of the Provincial Assembly from PP-149 and stood firmly against undemocratic forces. In the same year, with the support of the United Opposition, he contested for the position of Speaker of the Punjab Assembly and represented pro-democracy parties in the 2005 election for the Mayor of Lahore. In 2008, he was re-elected as a Member of the Punjab Assembly and assumed the responsibility of Deputy Speaker of the Punjab Assembly. In 2013, he gained the public’s trust once again from the same constituency and took on the roles of Provincial Minister for Education, Higher Education, Youth, Sports, Tourism, and Archaeology. He implemented comprehensive programs of revolutionary reforms in the education sector, such as the Internship Program, Education Endowment Fund, Punjab Education Foundation, and other educational projects. He organized grand Youth Festivals in 2012, 2013, and 2014, in which athletes from all over the province participated, revitalizing sports fields and setting multiple world records. In 2018, the public expressed their full confidence by electing him once again from PP-152. Now, The Prime Minister has shown his confidence in him and appointed Rana Mashhood Ahmad Khan as the Chairman of the Prime Minister’s Youth Program.
